General
If you no longer want to be a scholarz.net member, simply send us an email containing your user name and the request to close your account. We will then terminate your account. Please note: all your data will be deleted, there is no undo!
Your thesis, a paper, a talk, …
You can link information (e.g. quotes) from sources to your project.
This helps you gather everything you want to use in this project.
Any information you want to use in your research can be a source.
But a scholarz.net-source is far more than gathering bibliographic information.
You can gather quotes, excerpts, images, ideas concerning the thought, …
Store any information you want to use.
Then link it to the projects where you want to use it.
That way, your projects will grow without extra work for you.
Do you ever have a flash of inspiration? An idea just crossing your mind, without knowing its place jet?
That's what we invented clipz for. Just capture it and store it in the clipz-inbox.
Later you can pick it up again and process it. Maybe it's an idea for one of your projects, maybe a quote you want to remember, maybe the cornerstone of a new project.
Clipz help you, to never loose your flashes again.
Your notes, sources and files will not be reported by "scholarz.net" and will not be disclosed to third parties. You will always remain the owner of your data and decide yourself whom to enable to view your data.
Your personal information will not be disclosed to third parties. For enhancing "scholarz.net" we run statistical data acquisition. However, the results will not be published and are used exclusively for internal purposes.
At the moment "scholarz.net" is in a public-beta phase and for free. Though we are working on a licence-model, you will always have the possibility to use a "Free Account" with limited functions. Your saved data will of course remain available in the future.
"scholarz.net" does not verify the correctness of the public data. Every user himself is responsible for the content of his published notes.
Note: Please verify public notes by yourself, before you assign them to your own data.
Import/Export

open the Endnote application.

select the "output styles" in the edit menu.

open the style manager and select the "refer exports.ens" as your export style. Close the Style manager.

mark the data you want to export

open the file menu and choose Export. Click on "Text only" and "ReferExport.ens" in the new window and export the data to your data file on your hard drive.

upload the data file to your scholarz.net, select Endnote as the import format and click to import.
With our export-function you can save alle your data in Word- or RTF-documents on your own computer: individual sources or projects, your entire library or your projects overview and all notes, which include a specific keyword.
Example: Export of Projects Overview:
(1) Click on "Projects Overview" in the Drop-Down-Window "Dashboard":
(2) Click on "Backup library":
(3) Now select between rtf- or doc-files to export your library.
After starting export, your data will be saved on your computer.
At the present you can import "Google Notebook"-files (Help Google Notebook Import) or BibTeX-files (Help BibTeX Import) e.g. "Citavi". Further import-functions will follow soon.
Technical
With Drag&Drop (via the grey cross) you can move chapters or subchapters to another chapterlevel. Please note, that chapterlevels you want to move to have first to be expanded. Further, chapters cannot be moved into their own subchapters.
Click on the menu naviagion of the source inside your project. Choose the open window "remove folder":
Our servers are located in a high-performance computing center in Nuremberg and are supervised by WebhostOne. Daily backups and constant updates of the security services provide the greatest protection and security of your data. in addition to that, the data is secured secured on different disks to reduce the risk of data loss to a minimum.
We support the following types:

- Video: asf|asx|avi|flc|fli|mpg|mpeg|wmv|mp4|flv|3gp|svcd|mov
- Other: mm|mmap|zip|tar|gz|bz2|ppx

To assign a note to several sources, projects and keywords at the same time, you can use Drag&Drop or the assign-function within your note.
Drag&Drop: click and hold the curser on the cross; move the note to the left tab-selection and drop it to the designated folder. This function can be applied to projects, sources, keywords or files, as well.

Assign within a note: within the edit-modus you can assign the note to several projects, sources or keywords.
New projects and sources have set "NOT SHARED" as default.

You are able to invite co-workes to your private project or sources.
(1.a) Click on "Detailed permission" within the Sharing-Menue:
(1.b) or click on "co-workers-Menue":
(2) Now you can invite additional co-workers from your contact list or via e-mail as well as share your private projects or sources with a group.
You can share your projects or sources with the "scholarz.net"-community via "Sharing-menue":
With the button "read" your projects or sources within all the notes are set to read only. To give other users the possiblity to change the content of your project or source, you have to set it to "edit all".
With the "Lock"-feature you can lock individual notes of a public project or source, so that they are not visible for other users. You can use this feature for every note you want. Click the Drop-Down-Arrow and select "Lock".
To undo this just repeat the process and click "unlock".
To reorganize your notes please use Drag&Drop.

There are two ways to find public data:
1. Locate the desired term in the search bar top right and search in "public data". The system provides you with all public notes, projects, sources and keywords.
2. Click the Dashboard overview in the navigation bar. Open e.g. Sources Overview. Click Public Sources at the overview bar.
Now you get an overview of all Public Sources. Go the same way, in order to find an overview of all public sources or keywords.
Open "Community" in the navigation bar and click "Other scholarz".
In the search bar you can look for colleagues throughout the world via name, university or focus on research.
All you need to use the full service is a computer which is connected to the internet and a browser (optimized for: Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, Firefox 3.0 or higher, Safari, or Opera). With this basics you can use "scholarz.net" and work on your projects worldwide.
